The path was leading through meadows and forests high up on the mountain.
Colourful butterflies and humming bees visit the meadow flowers. Other animals like lizards love the sunny areas. On one leaf sat the shell of a grass hopper.
Although we did not feel any danger, little crosses along the way told of people killed by falling rocks or falling to their death.
A chapel on our way was dedicated to Saint Nepomuk, protector of bridges. Often bridges are swept away by masses of water rushing down the mountain.
A saw and wheat mill once used the water of a creek we passed.
Deep down in the valley the Passer River is flowing through fertile land known for an abundance of apple orchards. The last part up to Talbauer, the place we stayed overnight, was steep and beautiful. Mosses covered the ground and rocks and water dripped down on the path.
Gasthaus Talbauer is situated right above the city of Meran. On the steep slopes, they grow vegetables for their restaurant.
